MAMBO News #6: OpenAI launched GPT-6.1 Terra at half the price, and Google wants link-shared pages out of search
What changed from October 25 to 27, 2026 and what to do with each: OpenAI launched GPT-6.1 Terra, faster and at half the price or less; Google recommends that pages shared by link not be indexed; Anthropic filed to go public and the filing describes no ads in Claude; and a reminder from Meta: an ad set learns with about 50 conversions a week.
The most useful news of these two days came from OpenAI: on Monday, October 26, it launched GPT-6.1 Terra, its mid-range model, which the company says costs half as much or less than the previous one and finishes computer tasks more than three times faster. The same day, Google changed its guide for platforms and recommends that pages shared by link stay out of search. Below are the four updates with their source and a small test for each one.
This edition's window: From Sunday, October 25, 2026 at 8:00 to Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at 8:00, Buenos Aires time. Sources checked on the morning of October 27, 2026. LinkedIn announced nothing in that window, and Meta published no product news either. Meta's guide on 50 conversions is from October 21 and is included as a reminder: Social Media Today picked it up on Sunday, October 25, and it helps anyone running ads.
- GPT-6.1 Terra, USD 1: Per million input tokens in the API; the previous model cost USD 2.
- Google, Oct 26: The day it asked platforms not to index link-shared pages by default.
- Anthropic, USD 16.29 bn: Revenue in the first half of 2026, according to its IPO filing.
- Meta, 50: Conversions per week an ad set needs to learn.
1. OpenAI launched GPT-6.1 Terra: faster and at half the price
On Monday, October 26, OpenAI introduced GPT-6.1 Terra, the middle model of its lineup, replacing GPT-5.6 Terra. It is available in ChatGPT Work and Codex for Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu plans, and in the API at USD 1 per million input tokens and USD 5 for output, versus USD 2 and USD 12 for the previous one. According to OpenAI, it finishes computer-use tasks more than three times faster than its large models, and in its internal tests the error rate at low reasoning effort fell from 53.6% to 16.7%. Among the uses it shows are drafting proposals, reading technical drawings and filling out forms. These are OpenAI's figures, with no third-party measurements on sales tasks yet.

What to do: take the last proposal you sent and ask Terra for a new one for a similar client, with a five-line brief. Write down how long it took and how many things you had to fix; that number tells you whether it really saves time. If you have an assistant or chatbot built on the OpenAI API, ask whoever maintains it whether it makes sense to move it to Terra: the cost per query drops by half or more.

2. Google wants link-shared pages out of search
On October 26, Google updated its guide on preventing user-generated spam. It now covers tools that let users publish shared pages, generated content or web apps, and adds a section recommending that pages meant for sharing by link, collaboration or utility carry a noindex rule by default. It is a recommendation for platforms, not a new search rule, and Google named no products. The context: DuckDuckGo said shared ChatGPT and Claude conversations had shown up in search engines, and in 2025 more than 370,000 Grok conversations were found indexed.

What to do: search Google for site:chatgpt.com/share together with your company name, and repeat with your main clients' names. If a conversation shows up that should not be public, delete the link from ChatGPT's settings. And if you built a quote calculator or a page with an AI tool and want people to find it, publish it on your own domain: what lives on someone else's platform will be less and less visible.

3. Anthropic files to go public, and its filing describes no ads in Claude
On October 26, Anthropic filed with the US SEC to list on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT; price and share count are still blank. According to the filing, as read by PPC Land, it brought in USD 16.286 billion in the first half of 2026, versus USD 1.163 billion a year earlier, and more than 80% comes from businesses. The filing describes no advertising business and no ad-supported free tier; Anthropic had already pledged in February that Claude would not show ads on any plan. On the other side, since October 21 ChatGPT shows ads in Argentina on its Free and Go plans.

What to do: this week, make a simple list of which AI each person on your team uses, with which account, and whether it is free or paid. Anyone handling client data in a free personal account is the first case to sort out, whatever the tool. With that list, choosing which plan to pay for stops being a matter of taste.

4. A reminder from Meta: an ad set learns with about 50 conversions a week
This one is outside the window, but it helps anyone running ads. On October 21, Meta published a guide on its business blog on how to brief campaigns better, and Social Media Today picked it up on Sunday, October 25. The core figure: each ad set needs "roughly fifty conversions a week" to learn. In Meta's analysis, ad sets below that threshold ran about 28% more expensive per purchase; it is Meta's own figure, with no published methodology. Meta offers a formula to see how many ad sets your budget can support: weekly budget divided by cost per result times 50. It also recommends making all changes at once, so you go through a single learning phase.
Meta for Business: You don't beat the auction, you brief it (October 21, 2026)
Social Media Today: Meta says to let campaigns gather data (October 25, 2026)
What to do: run the numbers on your main campaign. With a budget of ARS 350,000 a week and a cost per lead of ARS 7,000, you get 1: your budget supports a single ad set. If you have five running, merge them into one and make all the changes the same day. This part is ours, not Meta's: if even one ad set does not reach 50 leads a week, as happens in many B2B accounts, one option is to optimize for an earlier, more frequent step, such as a visit to the contact page, and track separately how many end in a meeting.

What we would try this week
- Open Ads Manager and write down the weekly budget and cost per result of your main campaign.
- Divide the budget by the cost per result times 50: that is the number of ad sets your budget can support.
- If you have more running, merge them and make all the changes the same day, so you go through the learning phase only once.
If you want to run those numbers with us, or think through how to bring any of these tests to your sales team, write to [email protected] and let's talk.
