What happened in sales and AI this week: October 19 to 23, 2026, ChatGPT now shows ads in Argentina and opens are not meetings

This week in sales and AI: ChatGPT started showing ads in Argentina, LinkedIn lets you post a job from Claude, Claude Duet drafts follow-ups and waits for your OK, and an SDR job post asks to answer every lead in under 5 minutes. In prospecting, why an email open is not a meeting and what to give an SDR on day one. With source, date and what to do with each topic.

The most important news of the week of October 19 to 23, 2026: since October 21, ChatGPT shows ads in Argentina (OpenAI added 26 countries, for 89 in total), and the AI that works for you is starting to ask for permission before sending anything: Claude Duet drafts your follow-ups and sends nothing without your OK. In prospecting, the lesson was about metrics: according to Litmus, 62% of email opens go through Apple, which can count them even if nobody reads, so the only number that cannot be inflated is a meeting.

How this roundup was put together: It gathers the topics MAMBO published on its social channels between 10/19 and 10/23, including issues #4 and #5 of MAMBO News. Every data point has its source and date; sources were checked between 10/20 and 10/22/2026.

  • Countries with ChatGPT ads, 89: OpenAI added 26 on 10/21/2026, Argentina included.
  • Opens via Apple, 62%: Share of email opens in July 2026, according to Litmus. They can be counted without anyone reading.
  • First SDR, 46: Companies that posted their first SDR role in the 30 days to 10/09/2026, according to RoleDawn.
  • To answer a lead, 5 min: What an inbound SDR job post published on 10/21/2026 asks for.

ChatGPT now shows ads in Argentina (10/22, MAMBO News #5)

On October 21, OpenAI brought ChatGPT ads to 26 new countries, Argentina among the 14 in Latin America, for 89 in total. Users on the Free and Go plans see them, they are labeled and kept apart from the answer, and they are bought through OpenAI's own ads manager or through partners. According to the company, more than 100,000 advertisers have already used the platform.

What to do: before thinking about running ads, open ChatGPT on a free account, ask what your customer would ask ("supplier of X in Buenos Aires") and write down who shows up and who does not. That list is your real competition in the conversation where people now decide whom to call.

LinkedIn lets you post a job from Claude (10/22, MAMBO News #5)

On October 21, LinkedIn launched Hiring Pro inside Claude: you describe the role, Claude writes the job post, you review it and it goes live when you approve it. According to LinkedIn, posting is free; the announcement does not say which countries it covers.
LinkedIn News: making it easier for small businesses to hire on LinkedIn (10/21/2026)

What to do: if you are about to add someone to your sales team, ask Claude for a draft of your next SDR job post and fix yourself who they will write to and what you expect from them. The post comes out fast; defining the role is still your job.

Claude Duet drafts the follow-up and waits for your OK (10/22, MAMBO News #5)

On October 21, Anthropic introduced Claude Duet, an agent that gets ahead of what needs doing. Connected to HubSpot, it drafts follow-ups using the history of contacts and deals, and before sending, paying, signing or deleting it shows you exactly what it is about to do and waits for your approval. For now it is a waitlisted preview for Pro and Max plans in the United States.

What to do: write down today which parts of your sales process can go out on their own and which only with your OK (a proposal, a price, a message to a key account). When the agent arrives, the rule will already be written.

Gemini Notebook shows you the outline before building the deck (10/22, MAMBO News #5)

On October 21, Google added a guided step to slide decks and video overviews in Gemini Notebook: before generating them, it shows you the outline so you can fix the order and the focus. It is available to all Workspace customers and personal Google accounts, and can take up to 15 days to show up.

What to do: upload your latest sales proposal and ask for the slides; fix the outline before it builds them, because that is where you decide whether the proposal starts with the customer's problem or with you.

SDR jobs: answer the lead in 5 minutes (10/22, MAMBO News #5)

An inbound SDR job post from GeoVictoria, published on Get on Board on October 21, asks to contact every lead in under 5 minutes and to make 6 to 8 attempts over 10 days before letting it go. An SDR is the person who finds new customers and books meetings for the sales team.

What to do: measure this week how long it takes you to answer a request that comes in through your website or WhatsApp, from their first message to your first reply. If it is hours, meetings are slipping away there.

Meta and Gemini, in two lines (10/20, MAMBO News #4)

Since October 19, Meta lets each creative in the same ad set carry its own age and gender (for now, only through the Marketing API), and Google made it possible to move the apps you build in Gemini to Google Sites in one click. Mind the date: on October 28, Meta turns on product browsing in your ads unless you switch it off. All four updates, with source and what to do, are in that edition's article.

Metrics: opens are not meetings (10/19)

Measuring a campaign by its opens is like measuring a restaurant by how many people read the menu on the sidewalk: looking is not walking in, and walking in is not sitting down to eat. And opens no longer even measure what we think. According to Litmus, in July 2026, 62% of email opens went through Apple, whose privacy protection downloads messages on its own and may count them as opened even if nobody read them. Goodhart's law sums it up: when a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure.
Litmus: email client market share (July 2026)

It happened to us too: in September, one of our campaigns had a 34% open rate and a 1.7% reply rate (MAMBO's own Apollo campaign log, 09/21/2026). What to do: on Monday, look at how many meetings came from someone who can buy from you and has the problem you solve. That is the number that cannot be inflated.

SDRs: if one is underperforming, check what you gave them on day one (10/21)

According to RoleDawn, 46 companies posted their first SDR role in the 30 days to October 9, 2026. Many will hire well; what defines the result is what that person starts with. It is almost always the system that fails, not the person: you buy the locomotive and forget the tracks. It happened to us: we were looking for why we were not reaching more companies and the ceiling was a single mailbox, good for about 13 new contacts per business day.
RoleDawn: companies hiring their first SDR (checked 10/09/2026)

What to do: before hiring, write down three things: who they will write to, what they will say and how many meetings per month you expect. If one of them does not come easily, start there and not with the job post.

What I would do on Monday

  • Ask ChatGPT what your customer would ask and write down who shows up and who does not.
  • Measure how long it takes you to answer a new request, from their first message to your reply.
  • Change the number you look at on Mondays: qualified meetings, not opens.

Frequently asked questions

Does ChatGPT show ads in Argentina?

Yes, since October 21, 2026. OpenAI added 26 countries, Argentina among them, and ads are now in 89. They appear on the Free and Go plans, labeled and kept apart from the answer.

Is the open rate still useful to measure an email campaign?

Less and less. According to Litmus, in July 2026, 62% of opens went through Apple, whose privacy protection can register an email as opened even if nobody reads it. To measure prospecting, look at replies and, above all, at meetings with people who can buy.

At MAMBO we prospect every day and measure each campaign by the meetings it brings, not by opens. If you want to review which number you look at and how to raise it, let's talk using one of your real accounts.
