What happened in sales and AI this week: October 5 to 9, 2026, AI picks who and the message is still yours
This week in sales and AI: Apollo announced a system that recommends who to contact, when and through which channel; Argentina saw 22 SDR or BDR job posts in seven days; and the prospecting idea of the week: your first message goes to the person who lives with the problem, not to procurement. With sources, dates and what to do about each one.
The most important news of the week of October 5 to 9, 2026: on September 30, Apollo announced a system that reads buying signals and recommends who to contact, when and through which channel, although that part is still in beta. What no signal solves is what to say to that person: the message that gets a reply brings something specific about their company. And in hiring, a week with 22 SDR or BDR job posts in Argentina confirms there is work for people who know how to prospect.
How this recap was put together: It gathers the topics MAMBO published on social media between October 5 and October 9. Each data point carries its source and date; sources were checked on October 9, 2026.
- SDR job posts, 22: Posts titled SDR or BDR published on LinkedIn in Argentina from September 25 to October 1. A floor, not a census.
- LinkedIn, 15 of 19: Argentine posts read in full that ask for LinkedIn or Sales Navigator.
- Entry level, 6 of 19: Posts in that same sample meant for people starting in the role.
- Apollo, 5M: Users Apollo says it has, double the figure a year ago.
Apollo: AI decides who, the message is still yours (Oct 5)
At its ApolloNEXT conference on September 30, Apollo announced three pieces. The Intelligence Layer, which ranks which accounts to look at first and recommends the next step, is available now. Messaging OS, which uses buying signals to recommend who to contact, when and through which channel, is in beta with early users. Builder Studio, for building tools and automations by describing them in plain language, is also in beta. No pricing was published.

We use Apollo every day and we will test it. But the person receiving the message does not see the signal: they see what you wrote. "I saw your company is growing, shall we talk?" works for anyone, which is why it works for no one. The message that gets a reply names something specific about their company, written by someone who actually looked.
What to do: take your best prospect this week and write one sentence about their company that would not fit anyone else. If you cannot, you have not looked closely enough yet. There is a guide for when you have nothing in common with the person.
How to write the first message when you have nothing in common
B2B prospecting with MAMBO
SDR jobs: 22 posts in Argentina in one week (Oct 6)
Between September 25 and October 1 we counted 22 LinkedIn job posts titled SDR or BDR in Argentina, more than three a day. The same week there were 55 in Mexico, 30 in Colombia and 5 in Chile. We only counted posts with that title, so it is a floor. Of the 19 Argentine posts we read in full, 15 mention LinkedIn or Sales Navigator, 12 ask for phone calls, 10 are remote, 8 mention AI and 6 are entry level. Source: MAMBO's own count of public LinkedIn Jobs listings, October 1, 2026.
What to do: if you are looking for your first SDR job, build a sample of your work before applying: a list of ten well chosen accounts and the first message for each one. If you are hiring an SDR, ask for that same sample in the interview. The yearly numbers and the full search are in separate articles.

Teams: the day after the farewell (Oct 7)
On October 6, Lionel Messi played his last match for Argentina, against Benin at the Monumental. The next day we published a reflection for teams: for twenty years we took for granted there would always be another match, and what seemed endless had an end date. Seneca put it in "On the Shortness of Life": it is not that we have little time, but that we waste a lot of it.

Two facts for anyone leading a sales team. In his commencement address at Dartmouth on June 9, 2024, Roger Federer said he won almost 80% of the 1,526 singles matches he played, but only 54% of the points. And Alexander Zverev reached world No. 2 while living with type 1 diabetes since childhood. Almost half the time things go wrong, and that does not stop you from winning.

What to do: prospecting works the same way, most messages go unanswered. Review the week's reply rate with your team, not the last no. And write down one thing you keep putting off as if time were endless.
Prospecting: do not start with procurement (Oct 9)
If your first message goes to procurement, the conversation ends on price. Procurement compares quotes: that is their job. The person who lives with the problem is someone else, like the manager who loses hours every week entering orders by hand or the operations lead who runs everything on spreadsheets. If you write to that person with a question about how they handle it today, the conversation starts with the problem, and your proposal reaches procurement with someone inside pushing for it. This is MAMBO's own approach, drawn from the prospecting analyses we do for clients.
What to do: next to each account on your list, write down who deals with the problem you solve every day. That person gets the first message, with a question rather than a quote.

What I would do on Monday
- Pick your five best prospects and write one sentence about each company that would not fit anyone else.
- For each account, identify the person who lives with the problem before the one who signs the order.
- If you are hiring SDRs, ask for a list of accounts and a first message in the interview, not a list of adjectives.
Frequently asked questions
What is Apollo Messaging OS?
It is the system Apollo announced on September 30, 2026 to recommend, based on buying signals, who to contact, when and through which channel. It is in beta with early users; the Intelligence Layer, which prioritizes accounts, is already available.
How many SDR job posts were published in Argentina in the first week of October?

At MAMBO we prospect every day with these tools, and we write every first message after looking at the person's company. If you want to review your messages or who you are writing to, let's talk with one of your real accounts.
